Dear friends,
Thank you very much for your support to our children's request for new clothes on Diwali. We raised a total of $400+ towards new clothes. We utilised this amount for purchase of kurta pyjamas for boys.
Let us take this opportunity to share an update about our activities over the last few months.
Thank you so much for your support over the last several years. Sphoorti children are doing fine. Your support has been making a lot of difference in the lives of our children.
Our children Pravallika (STD VII) and Gautam (STD VIII) were part of the teams which won 1st and 3rd prizes at Anveshana 2018 - a Science and Engineering Fair.
In the recent months, we added more Gond children from Adilabad and Kumram Bhim districts. There are 24 Gond children in all.
We are planning to add another block which can accommodate 100 children.
As part of our Bikes campaign, we distributed the first lot of 12 bikes on Dec 25 to STD IX children (10 boys and 2 girls). The rest will be given by Feb end.
Our children Chandrakanth and Keerthi win 1st and 2nd Prizes in National Children's Science Congress Essay-writing and Elocution competitions. The event was conducted at National Remote Science Center, Jeedimetla. They also won ULLAS Trust Scholarship, sponsored by Polaris.
Four Sphoorti girls Swapna, Manisha, Lalitha and Rohini and one boy Anand have been selected for National Merit cum Means Scholarship 2018.
Children's Day was celebrated in the august presence of Medchal District Judges and Advocates.
In January, we collected 60,000 sanitary napkins to be distributed among 500 girl children. We distributed 30,000 napkins so far.
22 Sphoorti children participated in Concern India Foundation Inter NGO Sports Meet held on Jan 24. They won 36 prizes. The Sphoorti team won the Tournament Cup for its overall performance.
On Dec 8, we were invited by Hexagon for their Family Day. It was a great honor for Sphoorti.
On Dec 31st night, we distributed Blankets to more than 200 Homeless people. We distributed more than 200 sweaters to our children and some local villagers in December and January.
