Albernita enjoying her library!

The More Than Me Academy Library is open! Thank you for supporting literacy at our school. We wanted to update you on how the money you raised is being spent. Last fall, we received a generous grant from the British Embassy in Liberia to open a brand new library! Only 11% of schools in Liberia have a library. On top of that, we've received several book donations for our library. Due to these two developments, the only book purchases we needed to make were for regional and cultural literature, so that our students can learn more about the community and culture they've been brought up in!

The money you raised will go to support our main project that supported this microproject, 500 Girls off the Street and Into School in Liberia. This is GlobalGiving's microproject policy, and we wanted to let you know how your money is being spent.

Thank you for your continued support. We couldn't do this work without you!

For the girls,

Emily and the MTM Team

Thank you so much for your donation and support for the More than Me Foundation. In this new year, our organization has so many exciting projects ahead of us. Right now, we are in the process of building our very first girls' academy. We look forward to opening it to new students in 2013, in phases. This will allow us to greatly expand our reach and ensure that our students are getting a high quality education.

More specfically, thanks to your generous gift, we will now be able to fill the library of our new school building with more teen and pre-teen literature for our students to enjoy. These books will allow our older students to challenge themselves by reading books at a higher reading level. We are so excited to be able to provide our students with this resource and couldn't have done it without you!

A microproject connected to this project:

500 Girls off the Street & Into School in Liberia.
We help get girls off the street and into school in one of the world's most notorious slums in Liberia, West Africa. We started sponsoring girls at an already existing school, but its standards were very low. Now, we've been able to open our own More Than Me Academy, where our students will receive a real education based on international standards. We currently serve 120 girls, but the MTM Academy can serve up to 240. One day, we hope to have a boarding school that will support 500+ girls project reportread updates from the field
