By Annette Scarpitta | Project Co-Leader
Since this project was launched, it has become further apparent to me how badly backpacks are needed at the Vijana Primary School in Luberizi, eastern DR Congo. The rainy season is upon the community, and notebooks become damaged. Backpacks will provide much needed protection for all the students' supplies, including pencil and pen, notebook, and math kit. In this environment, backpacks are not an optional accessory but a necessity. Thank you to each and every one of you who donated to this important cause. The children and the community don't have any other source of support and are truly grateful. Don't forget to visit our main project here on GlobalGiving, "Educate 130 Children of Rape Victims in DR Congo (#8568)." I hope to have another microproject posted in the next week offering a chance to provide shoes for the students at Rwenena Primary School (earlier, we provided shoes for the Luberizi school). Thanks again!
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
