A new school year has begun in Afghanistan, and as promised, we’re writing to update you on the students who received the scholarships that you helped to fund! Nine young girls will be attending a private school in Herat province, thanks to your generosity. We'd like to give you a little information about each of the recipients.
Tahera is the eight-year-old daughter of a farmer who will be in second grade this year.
Samira is also eight and will also be in the second grade. Her father is a day laborer.
Maryem is a seven year old girl in the first grade. Her father is a farmer.

Above you can see the girls and their classmates who also received scholarships. In all, through GlobalGiving and other sources, we were able to provide 73 scholarships to students just like these to study at private schools in Afghanistan this school year! We’d like to thank you once again for supporting our efforts to provide a high quality education to as many students as possible. Thank you.
