A Poultry and a School thanks to you!
On May 2016 and thanks to the support of our amazing 21 donors, Mah Di’s Orphanage began the construction of a poultry able to house 200 chickens. The only reason this new poultry is not functional yet is that they have decided to delay production a few months due to a local bird flu epidemic. Every year, this poultry will make enough profits to pay about 60% of the total cost of school fees for the 41 children and teenagers, so from now on, every year, remember you are putting 41 children in school because one day you decided to trust Mah Di’s with your money.
The amount received was overwhelming, and resources were cleverly managed, so there were enough construction materials and funds left to start another project: a school room for the children.
One year ago Mah Diane, the fascinating Director of the orphanage realized the orphanage could save a lot of money in fees by starting their own nursery school. (Paying one teacher is cheaper than paying each of the children school fees). This project has grown and they are expanding now to hold upper classrooms, the new construction will be for the first level of Primary School.
We wanted to do something different to thank all of you, so the orphans of Mah Di’s and us decided to make a video thanking each and every one of you. Check it bellow! We had a great time doing the video and we hope you enjoy it too. Sorry for the quality, and we hope you understand any pronunciation mistake! We had a very international group of donors
Then 3 weeks ago I was again in Mah Di’s to celebrate the international day of the African Child, and one of the children approached me, Christopher. (Big Christopher). As you see in the video each child got assigned a name to say thank you to. Christopher remembered his assigned donor (Nicole Lewis) and asked about her
“How’s Nicole Lewis? Has she answered?”
So I told him that not yet, that she still needs to see the video. He gave me a message for her:
“Hi. Thank you for the contribution to the poultry.”
Another of the orphans, Justine, saw me recording the message.
“Please! For Angela Dishant: I wish you a happy day. God should be with you always.”
Just from knowing and calling your names, they have now established a connection with you, so if you want to make them happy, write to email@example.com. This time around we don’t want to ask for any donation, but if you have the time to write even 2 sentences about you and why did you decided to help them. It will make a huge difference.
This is the end of this microproject, but you can stay connected through the main project to support Mah Di’s (https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/madhis-orphanage-kumba/ if you scroll down you can chose to follow the project ) , our facebook page : ( www.facebook.com/reachoutcameroon )and twitter account @reachoutdev1
