At the age of 11, Amir, a scholar of Peru Champs, managed to qualify to the World Karate Championship in Scotland in the Advanced category in the Kumite modality. Unfortunately, due to financial issues he was unable to travel; however, he does not lose hope of qualifying again for an opportunity abroad and showing all his talent representing Peru.
Amir lives in the district of San Miguel in Lima, with his mother, his grandparents and his two aunts, who are his main source of support to continue dreaming big. His adventure in Peru Champs began in 2020, when his mother learned about our academic scholarship through social networks and encouraged him to apply, because she knew that her son had a great athletic talent, besides being responsible and good at studies. This is how he began his school life in our partner Innova Schools, a school that provides, according to Amir's words, a quality education not only at an academic level, but also in comprehensive training.
Building his character and attitude in sports is fundamental for Amir, who thanks our Leadership Program for helping him to strengthen his soft skills, emotional intelligence, creativity and social commitment, through various workshops aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals. All of this adds up to him becoming the best version of himself to fight for his dreams.
Amir's passion for karate was born at a very young age, when he watched his grandfather practice it and represent Peru in the National Karate Federation. For as long as he can remember, this sport was instilled in him, and at the age of six he began to practice it constantly in an academy. One of his greatest achievements would come two years later, when he was selected Pan-American champion of traditional Karate in Mexico in the Advanced category. In addition to karate, Amir is training in kickboxing and Muay Thai, as one of his dreams is to become a complete martial artist and exploit his full potential.
Quality education and the development of his soft skills thanks to the Peru Champs program, are for Amir pillars that help and motivate him to improve every day to achieve his goals. Like him, there are many children of low economic resources with great talent who want to excel and are waiting for an opportunity to do so. You can transform their lives by donating today.
