NFTE South Florida will use the funds to create the High Five Gift Award. Students who enter product-based businesses in the NFTE Annual Competition will be eligible to win this start-up capital for their business plans.
Every NFTE student must create a business plan as part of the Annual Competition, however not every student will get to see their idea become reality. Start-up capital is limited, particularly for more supply-intensive product based ideas. NFTE South Florida hopes to support 10 students with $500 each for their business, provided they use their production networks to make a small gift for NFTE supporters as well.
Students are motivated to express themselves and think through the nuts and bolts of product development by participating in a competition with their unique products. Winning students have the added satisfaction of seeing their products go into production and actualizing their business ideas.
By working to keep at-risk students engaged in their school work, NFTE spurs its participants to graduate high school and dare to dream of a brighter future. Whether they pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or start their own business, NFTE instills an entrepreneurial mindset in young people so they can plan for success. Since 1987 NFTE has worked with almost 500,000 students across the U.S. and around the world.
