Mathias, a child who values the power of education

By Fatima Moreno | Project Leader

Mathias, a 10-year-old Champ and 5th grader at Innova Schools, has been part of Peru Champs since 2022. He lives with his mother, a housewife, his father, a driver, and his older brother, who is also a Champ. His day starts early, getting up at 5:50 a.m. in order to arrive at his school at 6:30 a.m. His classes then last from 6:30 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.

After that, he goes straight to his soccer practice, which lasts from 4:30 p.m to 6:00 p.m. Finally, he gets home at 8:00 p.m. and starts his homework. He feels very proud and fortunate to be part of his soccer team: Club Universitario de Deportes. One of the most exciting moments in his career as a young soccer player was reaching the final of the “Copa Crema'' tournament, and being able to travel to Brazil for the “Go Cup” tournament.

His greatest motivation is by far his parents. For this reason he always strives so that in the future, he can repay the support he has received from his family, not only through his passion for sports, but also through the education they have given him. If he could improve anything in his country, it would be education, especially for low-income children. He believes that organizations like Perú Champs have a positive impact on society, as they offer quality education to children who otherwise would not have access to it.

Finally, he emphasizes that this type of education not only benefits the Champs economically by providing quality education at an affordable cost, but also helps students develop their problem-solving skills and overall grow as individuals.
