New mandatory school books must be bought according to the Kenyan Ministry of Education and we still need to buy more. If the new books are not provided to the children at the Center, they will not be up to date with the mandatory courses and will have problems passing exams that are written and provided by the Ministry of Education. We have most of the books already - but books in worth of 2500 US dollars still must be purchased.
The Ministry of Education is demanding new school books - and we desperately need donations to buy the remaining mandatory books for the Live and Learn in Kenya Int'l Education Center's school.
We have been able to buy most of the mandatory books, but there are still a large amount missing - costing US$ 2500. If the students do not have these books, they will not learn what is necessary for the curriculum and will not be able to pass the stately exams at the end of the school year in November.
In nearly 25 years of work in Nakuru we have provided hundreds of children with education, vocational training, nutritious food, foster care for (mostly AIDS) orphans, medical/dental care. Most of the children who have finished their education through LLK now have jobs or are attending universities. Having our own school we can provide high-quality education so that even the poorest of the poor have an equal chance to be all that they can be in life. This will change generations of lives.
