A huge ASANTE SANA - THANK YOU SO MUCH - to all of the wonderful people who have been donating to help our Live and Learn in Kenya International children and their families to survive during the Covid-19 pandemic. Today a group of mamas came to pick up their July donations of 25€ for food and soap and felt the need to just say "thank you" for caring! The other families will receive their donations through MPESA.
It is so depressingto see all of the hunger and poverty that these people have to contend with during their "normal" everyday lives. But with Covid-19 ruling their lives and preventing them from even doing the low-paying work that they are lucky to usually have - life has become intolerable. Where there is no work, there is no income. Where there is no income, there is no food to feed their families or soap to even wash their hands with. At the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center in Nakuru we found a way to get funds to the children's families through MPESA or small groups of parents picking up the donations personally.
Social Distancing and wearing facial masks are not only mandatory in Kenya - THEY ARE JUST PLAIN COMMON SENSE THAT NEEDS TO BE COMPLIED WITH! The Kenyan government demanded a lockdown early on and for this reason, the pandemic has been kept pretty much and surprisingly at bay. But it isn't over yet! We are thankful to HUNTER GmbH for their kind donation of hundreds of facial masks as it isn't only funding that is needed.
Thank you to all of you who have donated so generously - and we hope that donations will go on coming in to help these families.
We may not be able to help all of the poverty-stricken living in the slums of Nakuru, Kenya - but for those who are supported, it means a world of a difference.
