Our tailoring classes are a success! Currently, we have 12 students finishing their course ready to take the Uganda Ministry Certification exams. Our new course begins May 2 & we have an urgent need for 5 fabric rolls, sewing threads, weaving threads & machine oil for our well-used sewing machines. Our Tailoring Tutor, Suzan, says, "Tailoring is a passion! I feel joy to see the students progress & start a career, supporting their families and gaining respect." Will you help us Sew Hope?
The legacy of war still haunts northern Uganda through broken education, gangs and girls at risk of very young motherhood. Our tailoring and clothing design classes provide at-risk youth, many of them young women with children, the opportunity to gain a career. This Sew Hope project will support the youth receive essential hands-on training through the purchase of training materials.
The purchase of sewing and weaving materials will allow the students to practice, learn and grow.
Through providing hands-on skills training our youth will have marketable skills for jobs. A secure job provides hope and financial security for them and their families. As the economy develops in the Gulu region there will be less opportunity for gangs to form and grow. This will build our people and our community.
