You could, in a heartbeat, bring much-needed twenty-first century technology right into the hands of hundreds of children attending a South African township school! How? By paying for the shipment of 20 laptops that have already been donated. We are sooooo close; we just need to get them there as soon as possible. Please help!
One of the schools we support does not have enough computers to accommodate everyone who wishes to take a first-ever Computer Applications Technology (CAT) course in January 2023. Some will be left out and fall behind in a world that is driven by the mastery of technology, and that would have devastating consequences for their university studies and careers. These students already suffer from inequities in educational opportunities, and a paucity of proper technology will only widen that gap.
If we raise the funds to ship the 20 laptops that have already been donated, this micro-project will instantly solve the problem stated above. The 20 laptops will perfectly bridge the gap between the number of interested students able to be accommodated and the number of laptops currently available at that school. This micro-project will leave no one behind.
Since the installation of our first two labs (in 2015 and 2020), computer literacy amongst educators and students has risen to 100%, the pass rates, especially in English and mathematics, have increased, and the matric (high school exam) pass rates have improved, too; we would like to see that same growth unfold at every school in the region so Computer Science and other popular, important, impactful fields, would be in students' sights if they receive proper training at the earliest stages.
