The Kirtland Alternative Breaks program, including its very first student board, is currently planning the trips they will be sending students and staff on throughout the 2013-2014 school year.
As they do so, they reflect on last year and are encouraged by the amazing community partners they were able to work with across the country, and the outpouring of support they received from the Kirtland community.
One of the many highlights from this past year, the first for the KCC AB program, was the break we sent to Harvest Farm in Wellington, Colorado, focused on the issue of Addictions Awareness. This break was made possible by your generosity and by others in our Kirtland family that gave in support of providing an opportunity for students to learn, serve, and grow as active citizens.
The group of nine that participated drove a total of nearly 3,000 miles, traveled through ten different states, climbed over a mile and a half to the top of a mountain, and spent 5 days working with dozens of amazing men that are committed to combating their addictions to drugs and alcohol. This was an amazing week that we speak of often and will never forget. Thank you so much for making this alternative break a reality!
