By Luminita Cuna | Project Director
First of all, thank you everybody for caring and showing support for the Kamayura people!
With the 95$ collected I will be able to buy a good digital camera and a memory card for the Kamayura village. They will use the camera to record their rituals, dances, and daily life. The village will receive this gift in July, and the camera will be put at use right away because at the end of July the biggest, most important ritual of the Kamayura is taking place: Kuarup, the celebration of the dead.
After asking permission of the village, I will bring back a few pictures taken with this camera so that the kind donors that contributed to this project can see the results! Again, thank you very much for helping the Kamayura achieve one of their goals – be the owners of their own image, and disseminate Kuarup as it really is and not distorted or misrepresented by mass media.
