Ethnic division in Afghanistan plays a role in continued instability and lack of peace. To help overcome this divide the project, 'Kabul's Youths 4 Peace', led by 19 year old Mohammad Sajid, will establish a Youth Peace Club at a local education centre, open to all students from the different ethnic groups such as Pashtun, Tajeks and Hazara. It will promote initiatives allowing young people to work together, aiding the development of their community, while setting a positive example to others.
The creation of an ethnically diverse Youth Peace Club will help reduce the ethnic divisions in Kabul society. The club will bring together different ethnic groups by developing peaceful activities which requires them to work as a team while also helping the community. These activities will then help build youth capacity, community leadership and help social development.
The club would promote ethnic inclusion and relationship-building through active teamwork in the community. As a group they will promote peace through the use of social media; organise clean ups; collect clothes for poor children; supply food to street kids and women. Working as a united team will set an example for others to follow and raise young people's awareness of what peace activities can do for their society.
The group activities will raise public awareness and will motivate others to take an active part in community-based services. Other young people may form new clubs in different areas after seeing the young people working as a team. Working with all ethnic groups will help build trust and encourage future cooperation, helping the country's development and future peace.
