The jobs our program provides

Since it began in  Dec. 2013, Jobs for Cambodia Youth  has continued to offer safe job opportunities  for teens and young adults, providing  young people with essential  , reliable income through  jobs at the Champey Academy. We currently provide 19 jobs: 4 full time and 15 part time.

Salaries range from $ 35  to $ 170 per month.  Positions  include a music teacher, dance teachers, apprentice " practice" dancers as well as office and administrative duties   and maintenance work that help run Champey Academy.  Working together with our permanent " adult" staff, our Jobs for Youth team is composed of   high school students or some college students in our Kasumisou Scholars program.  All ae from extremely modest backgrounds.  These jobs   help students to support themselves and their families   and to build skills that will help to propel them forward. All  of our young workers also participate in our art, dance  and music programs or in our college program.  Some of these youthful workers are also from our Aids Patient Family support program and we have been encouraging them for years to get an education and  to continue to  develop a work ethic to help themselves.  For  most of these students, these modest jobs and the income they receive supplements what would otherwise be a life of extreme poverty. Another key benefit is that it takes them out of the slums where they live and shows them a different view of life.

Our program has been particularly important for some of the college students in our  Kasumisou Scholars program. Our college students all come from extremely  modest backgrounds and their families are usually unable to provide any financial support. The income from Jobs for youth may be  the only income for these students  and without this income they would be unable to provide even basis necessities for themselves as they pursue their dreams of achieving a college education.

The goal of this program has always been to help students to help themselves and to help them to understand the important relationship between the discipline of work and the many roads to success by providing jobs in a safe and suitable environment. Your contributions are what has  empowered and enabled us to fulfill this goal and we are deeply grateful to you all for your generous support.
