This project will provide 30 Argentinean low income youth with job training through a 6 meetings cycle to reflect about their present situation and their future life projects. The venues empowers youth with tools and skills that are increasingly required to make the most of the opportunities in their future.
More than a half of the 3,217,000 young people living in Argentina's urban areas are affected by vulnerability, poverty or indigence. Around 756,000 of them are not in education, employment or training (NEETs). 68.3% of them have not completed high school and even those who have finished it can't acquire the sufficient competencies and training needed to expand their livelihood choices.
This project consists of 6 meetings addressing personal, vocational and labor development. The venue will be led by a job training professional. Each meeting aims for youth to identify tools that are useful for them to work out on their present situation and to consider their future options. Activities during these meetings will strengthen dialogue and experiences sharing among the participants.
The project favors youth appropriation of tools and skills that are increasingly required to make the most of the opportunities in their future, empowering them in the long-term to have more personal and professional options such as obtaining scholarships and jobs. This positively influences their family and community, helping to curb the vicious cycle of social exclusion and poverty in Argentina.
