This project will fund a year of education for Louis. There are few opportunities for young men like Louis to learn the skills they need to find gainful employment. As a current EIM student, Louis knows how lucky he is. "Thanks to the school I have some skills now. I am proud of to be a student at the English In Mind Institute!". Louis can't afford to pay any school fees, so he relies on donors like you to invest in his future by paying his teachers' salaries so he can keep learning.
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Louis , cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
By ensuring that Louis can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help him develop the skills he needs to find gainful employment.
Your donations will give Louis the skills to find gainful employment. That employment will let him support himself and his family, permanently breaking the cycle of poverty.
