Challenge

In a rapidly changing economy, today's youth will need a portable set of skills that can help them embrace opportunities and prepare for successful futures. NFTE's in-depth and unique hands on approach to entrepreneurship education enables youth from low-income neighborhoods the opportunity to practice and develop important skills like product innovation, opportunity recognition, product innovation, negotiation, market research, business writing and presentation skills.

Solution

Funds contributed to this project will provide the tools needed to teach youth these important skills in a fun and engaging environment. NFTE's Product Innovation Activity, The Trading Game, the Chocolate Bar Market Research Activity, the Consumer Profile Magazine Activity and the Economics of One Unit Lego Activity are all designed to impart critical thinking skills in a manner that is engaging to youth.

Long-Term Impact

By working to keep at-risk students engaged in their school work, NFTE spurs its participants to graduate high school and dare to dream of a brighter future. Whether they pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or start their own business, NFTE instills an entrepreneurial mindset in young people so they can plan for success. Since opening its doors in 2007, NFTE Greater Los Angeles has reached over 6,000 students from low-income communities with entrepreneurship education programs.
