Thank you everyone for your support of greenlight for girls!!
The specific microproject that you have helped us to launch has been ALL about our incredible ambassadors and we want to tell you ALL about them!
In order to make a huge LEAP to change the landscape of the number of girls and women in STEM subjects and careers, we love to inspire every step to get there. Our Ambassadors are young women from the ages of 12 to 25, hailing from 15 countries, who work with greenlight for girls to amplify their passion in STEM to reach the community around them. And, WOW, do they make an impact!
Here are only a few of their stories...
Julia champions our Ambassador program!
"I am Julia from Chicago, USA. I am part of the SEED Scholars Honors Program at University of California, Berkeley. My major is currently 'undeclared engineering' and I am excited to learn more about the different fields before I declare my major. I am currently attending SEED's summer rising program which is a 6-week intensive session before fall semester begins. Here, I am taking courses and bonding with the people in my cohort." Julia began as a g4g Ambassador while she was a sophmore in High School and she has inspired so many around her through her community outreach. "I love combining STEM activities with my other interests to show how STEM can be amazing in so many different ways!!"
Shereen has just launched an incredible podcast!
Shereen became an g4g ambassador late last year and has already begun her first project! She created a podcast series interviewing STEM role models. STEMming into Different Fields is the inspirational name of her podcast and she is interviewing women across all STEM fields. Take a listen and follow here! "I'm from California. I've always enjoyed learning about chemistry, biology, and environmental sciences in school, and strive to expand my knowledge in various fields of science."
Nicole teaches Raspberry Pi courses to middle school girls!
For over a year now, Nicole has been creating, organizing, and running after-school classes for middle school girls where she taught them Raspberry Pi. Currently based in Shanghai, China, this fall, she'll be heading to Ithaca, New York to attend Cornell Engineering! "I've loved math and computer science since an early age, yet after I entered high school, I came to realize that no other girl was as passionate about computer science and coding as I was. My hope is for all girls to be able to love and embrace STEM despite gender stereotypes."
Keep an eye out for these young women, and all our ambassadors, who are making a LEAP in the world! Your support champions future STEM professionals, such as these rock stars, and we thank you for this.
