NFTE North Texas recently celebrated the end of the 2014 – 2015 school year. We were thrilled with the donations we received towards hosting an entrepreneurship Innovation Day for our Dallas area students. The Innovation Days inspire our students to think creatively about the problems facing some of the world’s largest companies. They turn their solutions into a business plan, which serves as the vehicle for lessons about marketing and design (students create an innovative product or service for each challenge, then pitch that to a panel of judges). The donations we received through GlobalGiving helped us provide students with the opportunity to see the ideas they presented in their business plan come to life. Thanks again for your contributions.
One of the businesses that was incubated at NFTE North Texas this year was Alloy Interp. Founded and led by Emily R. of Dallas, Alloy Interp sells jewelry that utilizes various metals, beads, and even gum wrappers to help young girls express their individual styles. Initially, she taught herself to make accessories at home using duct tape by watching YouTube videos. But slowly, and with the help of her mom bringing in supplies as demand increased, she began to branch out, using different mediums and paying attention to the personalities of her customers. Now, Alloy Interp is delivering hand-made, socially-responsible and customizable accessories to delighted customers in three cities. Emily is now considering taking business and entrepreneurship courses when she attends college.
Emily’s success reaffirms the mission of NFTE North Texas to reach and teach more young people about the unlimited possibilities of entrepreneurship. Thank you again for your donations through the GlobalGiving platform.
