This project aims to repair the roads leading to our school to increase accessibility for 400 students at the Salariin Kampuchea Learning Centre. Particularly during the wet season, the roads become very muddy and bumpy, making it challenging for our students to get to school, increasing absenteeism. To resolve this, we will refill the road with red earth to create a flat and stable surface, having a huge community impact.
The roads in the area where the school is located are not developed and particularly in the rainy season, this has a detrimental impact on educational access. They become very muddy and uneven, meaning the students struggle to make it to school as lots of them cycle. Increased absenteeism is linked with worsening academic performances and is therefore harmful to their future employment opportunities. Normally, the roads to Salariin Kampuchea Learning Center are fixed by the learning center.
We are raising money to fix the roads leading to our school and fill these uneven and damaged parts with red earth. By evening out the road we make it easier for students to attend school, while improving access for our local community that also uses these roads in their daily lives. The roads we are fixing are connected to main roads within Siem Reap, helping improve the lives of other community members as they travel around.
This project will support the education of over 400 Cambodian students, increasing the amount of time they spend within school. This will result in higher academic performances and give them the opportunity to have better employment prospects in the future, contributing more to the local economy. It will also support our wider community as they travel between their homes and the rest of the city, showing the far reaching impact.
