Purchase of Frames & Screening for Walls

Your donation toward new larger habitats for some of our important education birds made it possible for us to assemble the frames for the habitats and to buy some of the screening for the walls.

The aluminum framing is quite expensive, but we were able to start on this project with some excess material from another cage.  Aluminum is light and easy to work with and does not rust, meaning that it is a good building material for long-term use as well as being easy to clean.  The material we use is made by Corners, Ltd.

The screening we use to line the cages to make 'walls' is called Petscreen.  It is quite expensive, but its soft texture helps prevent damage to birds' delicate feathers and it is also very long-lasting.

Completed habitats will all be 7 feet high, and will vary in dimension, but will cover a combined area of 360 square feet.

As we fell short of the funds needed to buy the materials for this project, we do not have a definite date for its completion, but will work to raise the funds necessary to get the birds into their new cages by this fall.

Thank you very much for caring about providing a better space for Cody, Sherlock & Amelia, Katy & Scotty and Robbie.   We'll be sure and post pictures as we are able to do more on this project.
