Challenge

This project will tackle homelessness for individuals who also need behavioral health support. By providing safe, stable housing and access to care, it helps residents avoid the dangers of living on the streets, focus on their well-being, and work toward permanent housing.

Solution

Everhart Village, run by the Chico Housing Action Team with Butte County Behavioral Health, is a tinyhome community that gives people experiencing homelessness a safe place to live. Residents, who are also getting behavioral health support, have their own cabins and access to help with mental health, life skills, and planning for the future. The goal is to provide stability so they can focus on healing and eventually move into permanent housing.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term impact of this project is keeping our community safer and stronger. By providing stable housing and behavioral health support at Everhart Village, residents are less likely to rely on emergency services, shelters, or law enforcement, reducing strain on local resources. Over time, residents gain stability and skills to move into permanent housing, creating healthier neighborhoods, lower community costs, and a more resilient support system for everyone in Chico and
