By Kay Sweeney/ Juana Cun | Managing Director/ Intern Coordinator
Our new intern program is now in full swing. Juana Cun, our bookkeeper, has taken on an additional role as coordinator of the program. With her graduate degree in Social Work, she is well suited to the task. This year, additional funding from Mary’s Pence and Quail Roost Foundation, has been added to what you, as one of our individual donors, contribute. This has made it possible for us to continue the program for a solid year.
Juana has placed six young women in intern positions. In these positions, they will be acquiring work experience and training that will be useful as they seek employment. Juana also will be providing monthly workshops that include computer training, writing a resume, interviewing for a job, and information about required tax reports.
At the end of six months, the young women together with Juana will evaluate the program. Some young women may secure permanent positions at this time and others will continue for another six months. Other young women will be added to the program as funding permits. We will be sharing more about the individual young women in our up-coming donor reports. Be sure we have your email address, so we can keep you up to date.
