'An Evening With...' aims to foster peace and social cohesion by giving young people educational exposure to a wide variety of social activists and entrepreneurs who are fantastic role models for young people. This project is run by Youth UPF (Universal Peace Federation), a body of young adults who recognise the potential of young people to positively influence society and seek to empower young people with the necessary leadership and personal skills to do so.
As young people are going to be the future leaders of society, it is crucial that they are educated and trained to become competent leaders who will foster cohesion and peace. Role models, people who put positive principles into practice, can be powerful tools for education. This project will raise awareness of such role models and give young people a chance to understand what inspires such socially conscious leaders to do the work they do during "An evening with . . .".
Live interviews of successful social entrepreneurs and activists will be conducted in order to inspire young people, providing insights into these role models' motivations. To further inspire, profiles of each speaker will be disseminated to facilitate discussion of their background and experiences amongst a wider audience. It will provide practical advice and training for young people to set up their own projects addressing social issues, giving them key leadership experience in the process.
This project will mobilise young people to become more active within their communities by inspiring them to initiate their own social projects. This will foster greater leadership skills and social awareness, both being necessary aspects of competent leadership. It will also provide help young people understand and mirror the best practices of current socially conscious leaders.
