This project provides economic empowerment opportunities for women and girls in Anambra State, especially the poor, including widows and young orphans, fostering self-reliance and breaking the cycle of poverty. Through entrepreneurial skills development, skill acquisition training programs, education, access to healthcare services etc, this project will empower these women and girls to build sustainable livelihoods. In Nigeria, women and girls continue to suffer injustices and marginalization, which is often as a result of discriminatory laws, religious and cultural norms, gender stereotypes, low levels of education and the disproportionate effect of poverty on them. Women and girls traditionally have limited access to education, assets and land ownership. They are denied equal treatment in inheritance rights, human resources development and sustainable economic growth.
We will provide financial support for business startups and those who wants to learn entrepreneurial skills, will be enrolled in different fields. Skill acquisition training programs will be conducted and we will organize community workshops on gender equality and women's rights and also provide access to good healthcare services for them. The impact of the project will be measured and feedback, solicited from the beneficiaries for improvement.
Empowering these women and girls will reduce poverty by providing them with income-generating opportunities. Access to good healthcare services, will contribute to healthier families and reduced maternal and child mortality. Achieving gender equality is a key Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), addressing various interconnected global challenges. Gender equity and equality will lead to a more prosperous and sustainable future for all.
