Challenge

Conflict and displacement in northern Nigeria have left many children without reliable access to nutritious food and healthcare. Families forced from their homes may live in displacement camps, temporary shelters, or host communities with little food and income. Young children face a high risk of acute malnutrition, illness, poor growth, and preventable death. This project will respond to malnutrition among 100 crisis-affected and displaced children.

Solution

This project will identify 100 malnourished children affected by crisis and displacement in northern Nigeria and provide nutrition screening, medical checks, treatment, nutritious food, and therapeutic nutrition support based on each child's needs. Their weight and growth will be monitored during the project. Children with severe acute malnutrition, infections, or other medical complications will be referred to health facilities for further treatment.

Long-Term Impact

The project will help 100 malnourished children affected by crisis and displacement recover, gain healthy weight, and reduce their risk of recurring illness and preventable death. Early nutrition and medical care can support healthy physical growth, brain development, and learning. Parents and caregivers will also receive practical guidance on child feeding, nutrition, hygiene, and recognising signs of malnutrition.
