English in Mind Institute (EIM) provides high quality, affordable English classes to adults in Port-au-Prince, along with job placement and community resources.
With continued insecurity and gang violence impacting much of Port-au-Prince, including our neighborhood of Clercine, there's an urgent need to increase security for both our students, staff, and property.
We are raising money to protect our community in three main ways. First, by providing everyone at EIM with vital identification badges that will keep them safe while in transit to and from school. Second, by outfitting our property with updated locks, exterior lights, and reinforcements to our gate and entryway. Lastly, by allowing our hard-working 24/7 security guards to have the back-up support needed to be refreshed and prepared.
English in Mind is an educational oasis for over 100 students and teachers striving for an edge in the employment world. In Haiti someone with a high school degree who speaks English will often be chosen for work over someone with a university degree who does not. It's just that powerful.
