Many thanks to all of you who participated in Billericay Rotary Club's Christmas Fun Quiz in aid of eradicating Polio from the world. And special thanks if you made your donation for our quiz questions via GlobalGiving on 'Giving Tuesday' (30th November), as we earned a 30% bonus on your donations on that day.
We are very pleased to report that through GlobalGiving, with Gift Aid, we raised £1,909. Adding this to quiz donations made direct to the Club, the final total raised was an excellent £2,242.73. This was double-matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, resulting in a £6,728.19 contribution to Rotary's 'End Polio Now' campaign. Converting this to actual vaccines, which cost approximately 20p a dose, means that in excess of 33,500 children can be offered a vaccination thanks to your donations.
So a big thank you, not only to you, but also to our Government's Gift Aid scheme, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and to GlobalGiving's 'Giving Tuesday' $1m Bonus Fund that enabled us to reach this impressive total.
We do hope you enjoyed the Quiz and had fun over the Christmas period with family and friends in working out the answers.
