Happy & Healthy in their Sweaters!

"Help Children Feel Better with a Sweater this Winter!"

This was our campaign's tagline & in the truest sense many orphan children were provided with sweaters from the funds raised through this campaign that has helped them feel better, healthier & happier!

In India, severe chilly winter nights in the North & Central parts of India are often unrelenting & kill minimum eight homeless people every day during the winter months; children face the highest risk during extreme weather conditions. The poor, marginalised are destined to brave the winters without a roof and under deplorable conditions. Children staying at orphanages too struggle during the winter months and try to fight back the extreme conditions that affect their health and daily life too.

The winter months this year were severe in parts of Madhya Pradesh in India & children residing in some of the orphanages supported by CSA were falling ill & were affected by cough & fever for long periods resuting in them missing several days of school. The existing sweaters they had were worn out & would not keep them warm & comfortable. In addition, the orphange management could not provide for new sweaters owing to a shortage of funds.

Through the funds raised from this campaign, we were able to provide 430 children ranging from the age group of 6 to 18 years residing in 10 orphanages / children's homes across 6 districts of Madhya Pradesh, India with sweaters!

Through your generosity & the matching funds raised from GlobalGiving, these children were able to wear new sweaters & brave the winters. We are glad to report that fewer number of children have fallen ill during this period.

Children were also happy & excited to receive new sweaters & their smiles, good health & regular attendance at school during the winters has been possible through your support & committment to help children at orphanages in India lead healthy, happier lives!
