This project will support Mercy, a poor young widow and an orphan, to grow her petty business and be able to take good care of herself and her two children. Mercy, a 23-year-old girl, lost her husband last year. They've been feeding from hand to mouth when the husband was alive, talk more of now that he's dead. Her husband's parents are dead too and the husband's eldest brother, sent her and the children (a boy and girl) out, noting that his brother didn't pay any bride price on her head.
Mercy doesn't have any source of livelihood. The little business of selling some food items that she was doing before, was sponsored by the late husband and right now, she's depressed and sells roasted corn on the roadside, to care for her children. She doesn't have a family to return to, as her parents are also dead and she's left with her only younger brother who begs her for financial support. Without supporting this young girl, she might die of depression, leaving her two children to suffer.
With the funds that would be raised through this project, we will support her to grow this corn business and be able to go back to her previous business or start a new one, when this season of corn harvesting ends, in order for her to make a living and be able to take good care of herself and the two children.
Mercy will be able to have something doing, in order to feed her children, pay house rent, sponsor her children's education and be able to take good care of herself and her children while providing other essential needs, without relying on people who may want to take advantage of her condition.
