This project will provide a year of English Education for Brunache. Brunache dreams of being a journalist, but at the moment she struggles just to put food on her children's plates, so she can't afford to go to school. Despite the challenges she faces, Brunache is determined to keep coming to class at EIM. She explained why in one simple sentence "English will help me accomplish my goal of find[ing] a job to earn money to take care myself, my family and those in need."
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Brunache, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
By ensuring that Brunache can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help her develop the skills she needs to find gainful employment. That employment will allow Brunache to feed her kids healthy food, educate them, and help build a bright future!
Your donations will give Brunache the means to find work and break the cycle of poverty for her children. She'll be able to keep them in school, ensuring that they follow in her footsteps toward gainful employment and a prosperous future.
