This project will help 50 girls in Northern Nigeria attend school for the first time. In communities where girls' enrolment is very low, the project will cover school fees, uniforms, books, bags, and other learning materials. The girls will gain basic reading, writing, mathematics, and life skills that can protect them from child marriage, hard labour, trafficking, and lifelong poverty.
Many girls in Northern Nigeria have never attended school because their families cannot afford school fees, uniforms, books, and other learning materials. Poverty, child marriage, household labour, insecurity, and beliefs that favour boys' education also keep girls out of classrooms. Without education, these girls face a greater risk of illiteracy, exploitation, trafficking, early pregnancy, and lifelong poverty.
This project will fund 50 out-of-school girls in Northern Nigeria and enrol them in nearby schools for the first time. It will pay their school fees and provide uniforms, shoes, bags, books, and writing materials. Our team will also work with parents, guardians, teachers, and community leaders to keep the girls in school and monitor their attendance and progress.
Educating 50 girls can break cycles of illiteracy, child marriage, exploitation, and poverty. The girls will gain knowledge and skills that can help them continue their education, find better work, make informed health decisions, and support their families. Their success may also encourage more parents in Northern Nigeria to enrol their daughters in school.
