We just purchased our very first organic vegetable greenhouse! When I say "just", I mean it. Confirmed receipt arrived today (paid on June 25th) and we are the proud owners of a new greenhouse. We are SO excited because the veggies grown in this greenhouse will be organic - much better for children who have compromised immune systems. WHOO HOOO!!
We expect that over 200 children will benefit from the veggies and fruit this greenhouse and the 1/8 acre of drip irrigation that will be set outside of it will produce. Veggies such as kale, spinach, onions, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, passion fruit, cassava and so much more will be available for children who desperately need good nutrition in order to stay healthy and to be able to take their medicine. This greenhouse is a miracle for many and we can't wait to keep adding them to the farm until there is room for no more fruit and veggies to grow.
Thank you so much for supporting this project! If you'd ever like to visit the children who will benefit from this greenhouse, all you have to do is ask. We take Vacation with a Purpose teams to Mombasa, Kenya, and you'd be most welcome to come along. Just write Val at VTomey@AFCAids.org for more information.
Here are photos of a couple of children who'll get food thanks to your generosity - see their smiles? They know what is coming! Jamil and Osha thank you, as do I.
