The LA Corps seeks to obtain quality eye care for twenty 18-24 year old adults seeking employment. Unemployed and underemployed young adults that use eyeglasses have serious challenges with obtaining quality eye care. The cost of paying for an eye exam and glasses creates an economic setback for young adults that are living below the poverty line. This project will provide secure eye exams and eyeglasses for twenty young adults.
This project provides the gift of sight for visually impaired young adults, helping them achieve employment and education goals. Eye exams and eye glasses are expensive, especially if you are unemployed. The cost increases for medically uninsured young adults. Young adults are forced to choose between paying for eye care or basic necessities. Young adults that need prescription lenses and cannot afford them, find it is more difficult to concentrate and safely complete work tasks.
This project will provide quality eye care for twenty young adults who are actively seeking employment opportunities and/or a college education. This project will reduce the number of visually impaired young adults and increase their chances of being employed. Each participants will receive a free eye exam, a pair of prescription eyeglasses, and an educational lesson on the importance of wearing lenses to safely complete employment and education tasks.
This project will increase employment and education opportunities and reduce the number of visually impaired young adults in college and the workforce.The LA Corps Transition program serves over 50 young men and women per year, directly decreasing the high rates of unemployment among young adults 18-24 years old and creating economic prosperity and stability that benefits present and future generations.
