I have had the desire to excel and become useful to the society and my community who see me as role model in our poverty stricken village. Getting a chance to further my education will not only benefit me, but the entire community by them seeing the benefits of education through me as I implement the knowledge and skills acquired through learning.

My community is still obsessed with tradition, and education is given no attention. I am the third born among four children, and the only person educated in my family. I want to further my education to shine a light on the benefits of education. Universities in my country charge high fees for education which makes it difficult for poor families to get education - thus is this request from well-wishers and donors like you to help me achieve my dreams.

My dream is to complete my B.S. after which I plan to go and give back to the community, since education will give me more bargaining power and credibility among the elites from parts of our country. I plan to challenge others who get the chance to work in government offices in my community in order to break the stereotype that my community cannot make it like others.

Long-Term Impact

My community has been neglected by the government due to the lack of education and poverty state. By getting education my community will see the need for education. My family lives from hand to mouth, getting education and then a good job will change the perceptions of those thinking nothing good comes out of our community. Being successful in my career, I will also give back to the community by sponsoring those who cannot afford the fee on the basis of inability and poverty in the community.
