Luz Erlender couldn't contain her happiness, she was filled with a quiet joy as we fitted her for her new leg. The 30 year-old single mother of 2, whose life changed 10 years ago when she stepped on a landmine and lost one of her legs and spent some time in a coma. This made made the task of taking care of her young babies and working full-time a great challege,
Luz lost her leg when she was a victim to one of the thousand of land mines that threaten the lives of rural people in Colombia, she needed a new leg to get a better job to provide for her familu and more importantly play with her children and walk them to school safely, her worst fear is they have to walk alone in dangerous roads and they migh stumble upon a landmine like she did. Thorugh your generosity we her a prosthesis that will allow her to use both her leg and hands to work and more importantly be able to provide a safer future for her family.
With her new leg she can now get a better job, walk her children to school safely, making sure they are not hurt in the same way she was. With your help, Luz is now able to walk, run and play with her kids and she has also regained use of her hands, the new leg allows her to cook and care for her family more easily and get better economic opportunities for her and her children.
While talking to Luz the day she got her new leg she said "I have no words to express my hapiness and greatfulnes for the people that believe in me enough to give me this gift of life and love, I will not dissapoint you I will be the best mother I can be and work hard".
So from Luz, her family and all of our team Thank you!
