Challenge

In a rapidly changing economy, today's youth will need a portable set of skills that can help them embrace opportunities and prepare for successful futures. NFTE's in-depth and unique hands-on approach to entrepreneurship education enables youth from low-income neighborhoods the opportunity to practice and develop important skills like product innovation, opportunity recognition, product innovation, negotiation, market research, business writing and presentation skills.

Solution

Funds contributed to this project will provide the tools needed to teach youth these important skills in a fun and engaging environment. Activities include: NFTE's Product Innovation Training, a trading and negotiating game, market research training, a Consumer Profile Magazine activity, and an activity to learn the economics of one unit, which are all designed to impart critical thinking skills in a manner that is engaging to youth.

Long-Term Impact

This program will teach students the necessary skills to start their ventures as a part of the NFTE curriculum and write their business plans. NFTE spurs its participants to graduate high school and dare to dream of a brighter future. Whether they pursue higher education, enter the workforce or start their own business, NFTE instills an entrepreneurial mindset in young people so they can plan for success. Since 1987 NFTE has worked with over 500,000 students across the U.S. and around the world.
