Julieth is a sweet and shy 11 year-old, from the small village of Tuchin, Cordoba, in the northen region of Colombia. Julieth was a victim of domestic violence and lost one of her legs as a result, she was so deeply traumatized that she can't even remeber loosing her leg. With your help Mahavir Kmina will provide a prothesis so she can put her past behind, walk, play and grow strong everyday.
Julieth was a lively and happy 5th grader, but after losing her leg in a tragic domestic violence incident, she has become shy and barely speaks. She doesn't even want to go to school or see her friends anymore. Julieth was so shaken by her experience that she does not remeber exactly how it happen and all she wishes is to be able to walk again.
With your help, we will be able to provide Julieth with a prosthesis that will allow her to overcome the traumas of her past and shine like the bright little girl she is. Her new leg will help her to gradually get her self-confidence back, come out of her shell, recover her trust in other by encouraging to run and play again, go back to school and continue to grow everyday as a survivor.
Makavir Kmina provides prostheses to 250 amputees per year. This project will provide in a one-year period, prostheses to 20 children and youth between 1 and 25 years old who have suffered lower limb amputation allowing them to become independent in their daily life activities. This is important because they will have the opportunity to return to school, college or work, thus improving their living conditions and those of the people around them.
