Dear friends,
We just came back from the Spelling Bee Summer Camp and we can't wait to tell you about all the fun we had!
We played many ice-breakers and energizers, but our favorites were the camp songs - especially the Llama Song. We learned about Time-management, Self-care and Emotional Intelligence. We had a campfire and roasted s'mores. We went on a trip to Pirin Mountain and visited a Dancing Bears Sanctuary. We played kickball and dodgeball with two US Marines. We participated in an acting workshop with an American actor. We talked about how we can make our schools greener. We made collages, friendship bracelets, and tie-dye shirts. And so much more...
Do you want to know what was the best part of camp? The friendships! The students, who are usually outsiders in their communities, met other young people who share the same interests, ambitions and motivations. The teachers had a chance to share ideas and exchange contacts with other active colleagues.
And we were once again reminded why we should continue to do what we do - Spelling Bee changes lives. The project is so much more than a competition. It truly motivates Bulgarian students and teachers to realize their full potential and shows that with hard work and perseverance everything is possible.
We want to thank you once again for your generous support! Together we made camp possible for ten Spelling Bee champions!
Have a wonderful summer! See you in the autumn when the new Spelling Bee season will begin!
