Thank you very much for extending support to our children AVD and AVM. . We raised $400 towards D's living and education-related expenses. Out of $800, $ 350 were spent on their food, $100 on their clothing, $120 on their personal expenses like face powder, soaps etc and $200 on studies - books and school bag et al. The remaining was spent on
We would like to share their story in this report.
AVD and his younger brother come from a very poor family in Hyderabad. The father worked as a security guard in a private firm and mother was a housewife. In 2009, in a very unfortunate event, a gas cylinder exploded in their house in the middle of the night. AVD's parents were alseep and before they realized, they were killed in the blast. Fortunately, AVD and AVM were visiting their relatives in a nearby locality and escaped the accident.
The children's Uncle N referred the children to Sphoorti in 2013.
AVD's story is of courage, determination and the will to do well In life in whatever situation one is placed in. The children are an inspiration for privileged children who take a lot of things for granted in their lives.
AVD scored a GPA of 9.3 in his STD V examinations.
When the children joined Sphoorti, their mental state was in a disarray and their health was in a bad shape. Being born in a poor neighborhood and absence of parental support, their behavior and habits were subpar. Years of malnutrition took toll on their health. We took help of local physicians to improve their health. It took us a full year to bring them to good health.
After a few years of staying at Sphoorti, they began to mix up well with other inmates. THey have been participating in various programs in school and outside.
AVD wants to study Engineering and create computer games. Both the children say that they feel very safe and happy to be with friends and staff members at Sphoorti.
Sphoorti feels privileged to have helped these children find purpose in life.
The staff members have to be particularly commended for their commitment and hard work in dealing with children like them.
Over the last eleven years, the collaboration of our donors, well-wishers and other stake-holders has helped us provide a safe and secure childhood with facilities on par with those of a middle class family.
Through your support, we can help more children like AVD andAVM to become able citizens of India.
