Crossings in the central Mediterranean have increased, and rescue operations are bringing more survivors safely on board. This microproject will fund 250 emergency rescue kits, ensuring that each rescued person receives drinking water, warm clothing, hygiene supplies, and essential items immediately after rescue. These kits allow rescue teams to provide immediate dignity, care, and stability to people who often arrive exhausted and without basic necessities.
There are currently more than 60,000 people missing in the Mediterranean Sea. People rescued in the central Mediterranean often arrive on board exhausted, dehydrated, and without basic necessities after days at sea. Many have no drinking water, dry clothing, blankets, or hygiene supplies. Without immediate assistance, survivors remain vulnerable to dehydration, exposure, and medical complications. Rescue teams must provide essential items quickly to stabilize people safely after rescue.
This microproject will fund 250 emergency rescue kits, each containing drinking water, clothing, shoes, blankets, towels, hygiene supplies, and emergency snacks. These kits are distributed immediately after rescue on board the Ocean Viking. By ensuring these supplies are available for every person brought safely on board, the project helps rescue teams provide immediate care and dignity to survivors.
Ensuring that rescue teams have essential supplies for 250 people available on board allows survivors to receive immediate care, warmth, hydration, and dignity after rescue. By funding enough emergency rescue kits for 3 rescues, this project helps maintain the operational readiness of SOS MEDITERRANEE's rescue teams in the central Mediterranean. Over time, sustained support for these resources strengthens the capacity to provide consistent humanitarian assistance during rescue operations.
