We are raising funds to purchase engaging and educational toys for underprivileged children at the Salariin Kampuchea Learning Centre. The school teaches 400 disadvantaged students, providing them with an essential education. We would like to fill our playground space with toys and other equipment necessary to promote social play and child development, adding high quality toys that will serve many of our current and future students and support them on their educational journey.
While our students are in the school, we lack the resources to provide them with opportunities for some forms of play outside of lessons. Toys and play are essential for physical and emotional development within children and without these, our students are missing out on opportunities for collaboration and group play that develop vital social and teambuilding skills. The use of toys also supports cognitive development and problem-solving skills, supporting their work within the classroom.
This project aims to raise the necessary funds to purchase a selection of toys to increase opportunities for play for our students. We are asking for $300 to fund the purchase of toys, for example, balls, skipping ropes, building blocks, and ring toss activities, as well as a storage container to keep the toys organised and protect them from damage. These toys are educational and durable, meaning many children will benefit from their purchase.
Increasing the variety and amount of toys we have in our play area will increase socialisation, and creativity, while helping to relieve stress. This is crucial to maintain the academic performances and overall well-being of our students, helping to change the lives of over 400 students. By investing in our school environment, and making it more supportive and appealing to our students, we reduce the risk of absenteeism, resulting in improved academic performances, widening future opportunities.
