This project supports our Food Program, which provides dinner and nutritious snacks to over 16,500 children and youth between the ages of 6 and 18 at our service centers after school hours.
7 out of 10 participants of Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico live in poverty. One of the most visible effects of poverty is the lack of access to nutritious food, making it more difficult for students to eat adequately at home and focus on overcoming the academic gap.
The Food Program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico have served 124,584 plates of food during 2024-2025 period. We want to keep offering food alternatives so that none of our participants go to bed hungry. This program serves one hot and nutritious meal every day between 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to every child and youth that attends our 11 after-school service centers. For some of our participants, this is the last meal of the day.
This program aims to promote the well-being of our participants by ensuring that they have access to healthy food options. This project will provide hundreds of children the opportunity to develop their maximum potential by having support in adequate nutrition.
