This project will help us to support foster youth by giving them the opportunity to overcome the effects childhood abuse and neglect to become well-prepared and successful adults while strengthen and building our programming.
This project will help us to solve the feeling of instability, lack of support and feelings of unloved or being unwanted by allowing us to provide one to one mentor matching, intentional life skills lessons, loyal volunteers, and family-like environment which will help our youth consistently beat the odds while feeling supported and loved. The support we provide helps increase positive behavior, decrease placement changes, increase academic achievement and support the youth as they exit care.
In the long-term, providing love and support for "unwanted kids" helps to counter common negative behaviors that typically lead to substance abuse, violence, crime, poverty and illness or early death. Today, more than half of our US homeless and sex-trade populations are former foster youth! As a society, we can do better for our most vulnerable kids. Annually we reach on average 70 youth with the intention to "break the cycle" of abuse and provide guidance for making good decisions.
