Severe floods and landslides struck several regions in Sumatra after days of heavy rain, causing loss of life and forcing thousands of families to evacuate. Homes, roads, and schools were badly damaged. Immediate funds are needed to provide basic supplies such as food, clean water, hygiene kits, fuel, mattresses, tarps, and first aid for affected families.
Severe floods and landslides hit Sumatra at the end of November 2025, beginning on November 24 as heavy rains struck the region. The disaster affected Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, impacting more than a dozen areas. Official reports confirm 400+ deaths as of December 2025, with numbers still rising, and thousands displaced from their homes. North Sumatra suffered the highest number of casualties. This tragedy highlights the urgent need for coordinated humanitarian assistance.
We are coordinating closely with our partners on the ground to respond to the most urgent needs. Funds will be used to distribute basic supplies such as food, clean water, fuel, tarps, mattresses, hygiene kits, baby supplies, and first aid items to the affected families. We will also support temporary shelters for families who lost their homes.
In the long term, we will work with other organizations to help communities recover and rebuild. By providing both immediate relief and long-term support, we aim to help families regain stability and ensure children can return to school and continue their education in a safe environment.
