Dear Friends,
In the last few months, A Rocha Peru has been collecting funds to help rebuild and repair improved cookstoves damaged from floods caused by Cyclone Yaku. Our fundraising campaign was a success! We raised 4,300 soles with the help of supporters through GlobalGiving and Colline's Walk for A Rocha and, Climate Stewards. Thank you all those who contributed to the campaign as we were able to repair and rebuild many of the damaged cookstoves.
Maria, a mother from a family of six from Santa Maria, was one of the people who had her improved cookstove damaged by the floods. The cookstove was repaired in October. Maria expresses her gratitude: "...during March and April, 2023, cyclone Yaku generated heavy rains that affected most of the homes in our town because our houses are made of mudbricks and are not prepared for the rains; therefore, my improved kitchen was affected and I could no longer cook with it. The chimney rusted and the mud lining crumbled. Now, that my kitchen has been maintained and repaired, I can cook with it again daily. It is very useful to me, and it is now in very good condition. I thank you for the repair of my improved kitchen. I am very grateful, and may God bless you."
We are immensely grateful for the generosity of all those people who supported our flood relief campaign.
Forever grateful,
A Rocha Peru
