Each year sponsors have to donate to send a student to a good agricultural school. By developing fish farming activity at the LAP we can fund the costs of students in a sustainable way. One fish tank for 4.500 fry can generate up to 5.500 us$ of profit the second year. This cover the costs of 10 students each year. This activity will also be a training ground for the students and it will also create employment for local villagers.
Each year, donors have to pay for the costs of the students at the LAP. Some donors will get tired on the long run and stop with their donation. The number of students sponsored will decrease in time. By investing in a revenu generating activity at the LAP such as fish farming, the revenu will provide sustainable funding for some of the students and compensate for the lack of foreign sponsors.
The 5.500 US$ profit generated by one fish farming tank of 32 m3 will cover the costs of 8 students each year. It will also help train the students in fish farming and provide some employment to local villagers.
One fish farming basin profit will pay for the costs for 8 students each year. It makes the LAP more sustainable, but also 120 students in the second cycle studies at the LAP will be able to train on fish farming. Some of the students coming out of the school will start business in fish farming. The water coming out of the fish tank will be used to grow bananas and papayas.
