The project's goal is to purchase five vertical water mist cooling fans, one for each classroom at the Salariin Kampuchea Learning Center. The months of March to June are the hot season in Cambodia, when temperatures reach up to 40C (104F). The heat is oppressive, making it difficult for our students to concentrate on their work. To alleviate this problem we want to purchase five large cooling fans which would help keep our students cool and enable them to focus better.
During Cambodia's hot season (March to June), temperatures can reach 40C (104F), significantly impacting students' physical and cognitive well-being. They often suffer from headaches, fatigue, and discomfort, which hinder focus, memory, and learning. Prolonged exposure to such heat can reduce engagement, lower academic performance, and increase absenteeism.
This project aims to reduce the impact of heat on students by creating cooler classrooms. A comfortable learning environment encourages regular attendance and active participation. We plan to purchase five large (30") vertical water mist cooling fans-one for each classroom at the Salariin Kampuchea Learning Center-at $148 each. These fans provide ventilation and can use water and ice for added cooling, making them ideal for schools and otherlargespaces.
This project will benefit over 300 Cambodian children by improving classroom conditions with cooling fans. As rising temperatures from climate change continue to affect vulnerable communities, a cooler environment supports regular attendance and sustained motivation. By building English skills, our programs also boost students' future opportunities and contribute to thelocaleconomy.
